What We Do

Safety: Approach

Our typical approach follows a three-stage structure of Review and Assessment, Solution Development and Implementation.

The Review and Assessment phase is a critical first step. How we engage with the client depends specifically on their unique requirements and the background surrounding our engagement. We rely on a structured series of interviews to explore different aspects of safety in the client's organisation, particularly focusing on: individual behaviours, including those of the leadership team, reviewing appropriateness and degree of alignment; team effectiveness, looking at shared goals and effective working, and whether biases are adversely affecting performance (read more about Team Performance here); capability, considering levels of expertise, key data and view on current industry issues; and process, looking at standards, systems and documentation and the coverage of these across the organisation.

The more in-depth review requires a visit to sites with the best and worst safety record in the client organisation. If we are aiming to work on the overall safety culture, we would typically need to review all sites.

We use our core DNA Model as a framework to develop solutions based on findings from the review phase. We can then develop plans to implement solutions, including all necessary management systems and metrics, to deliver improved performance in the shortest possible timeframes.

What makes i2a's approach difference is our ability to combine deep expertise improving safety, with proven delivery skills to implement effective change in large organisations.
