We have the experience and capability to conduct different types of review and assessment of the current states in organisations. How we structure our work depends on where our client is positioned along the Evolutionary Model for Good Business and we can use our online survey tool to help assess this. As an example, take the Performance Focus characteristic. For Engaged clients the focus is likely to be around risk mitigation and reputation management. For Enlightened clients, our work is likely to be more biased toward the market opportunity for products and services based around Good Business organisation and values.
Typically, we focus on identifying risks and opportunities, understanding current 'DNA' and assessing compliance.
Identifying Risks and Opportunities
We can facilitate risk assessment based on a proven process for categorising and assessing different kinds of risks and opportunities. Key risk categories include: Environmental, ethical, regulatory, safety, security and social. Read more... We provide the specific expertise and external perspective necessary to make the process valuable.
Understanding DNA
The DNA Model is the key means by which we can translate values into behaviours. For each component of the model we can help clients understand their current position, not only in terms of the formal policies, processes and systems they have in place, but also in terms of how 'unwritten rules' affect actual behaviours. Unwritten rules are about the ways people behave given the formal (written) aspects of strategy, process, resources, organisation and senior management behaviour. These can provide much greater insight into why people in an organisation behave in certain, often unexpected, ways.
We have a range of tools that enable us to provide insight into the different aspects of an organisation's DNA. For example, we use the Culture Web as a tool to help us understand the ways of working for an organisation. The Culture Web helps us understand past events and how people are talked about inside and outside the business. Whom the business chooses to categorise as heroes, villains or mavericks says a great deal about what it values and perceives as great behaviour.
Assessing Compliance
Most conventional assessment processes are based on an audit approach. This works well when investigating a specific issue - a known breach of a code of conduct, for example - but less well under normal operating conditions. Audit approaches are typically disruptive, critical and focused exclusively on assurance. i2a's approach goes beyond the typical 'check-box' exercise to engage local managers, explore attitudes and help them understand risks and opportunities.
