Bill Boyle advises on environmental, safety and other sustainability issues, focused particularly on performance management, measurement and reporting. He is currently actively supporting the oil industry at an international level through IPIECA and OGP, in strategy, emerging environmental issues and safety metrics.
Bill worked for BP for almost 30 years until retiring at the end of 2008 as Director of Performance within its Safety and Operations function, which covers all 'HSE' issues such as health, social responsibility, security and environment, as well as personal, driving and process safety. In this role, Bill reviewed and reported operational performance to BP's main board and to the chief executive's Group Operations Risk Committee. He was responsible for the definition of HSE performance metrics, for competitive benchmarking and for external reporting on HSE issues, including the Annual Report and the Sustainability Report.
